Hello All,
If you haven't yet turned in your Dodgeball for Heart money, please do so on Monday March, 5th. Students will not be able to play or watch the dodgeball tournament on March 9th if they have not submitted at least $5 by Monday the 5th.
We wanted to let you know that it is officially March is Reading Month. Today a calendar went home with various things you can do at home to make reading more fun throughout the month. We will also be doing things here at school. Students are encouraged to read for at least 30 minutes a day at home. They have all also been given a reading log. Explanation is provided on the log form but in short, each medal represents 20 minutes of reading at home. Once completed the medal should be colored and a parent must date and sign off on the completion for each 20 minute set.
We have a friendly competition with the 6th-8th grades and the class with the most medals will receive a pizza party, second place receives a movie in the theater, and third place will receive a goodie bag for each student.
Additionally, Mrs. Van Singel is offering one extra credit point in her language arts class for every 2 medals completed on the reading log. If they complete their whole sheet they are able to received 5 extra credit points in language arts and all 3 sheets would then be equivalent to 15 extra credit points.
Monday, March 5 is also out next trip to the Spring Lake Library. Please have your child bring their library card. As always, if they are unable to check out books, they may bring their personal choice book or read any book of their choice while they are there.
**Festival of the Arts week is the week of March 19th-23rd- if you could please save any newspapers and magazines for our class project that week- that would be wonderful!! ** Feel free to send them in as you collect them.
Thank you for reading and have a great week!
